Hello, everyone welcome back to my blog. Again, sorry for the gap in writing, but at least it was only a month and a half this time. See, I’m making progress. Prayerfully you and your families are safe and healthy. I know that this current situation has been trying for so many creating a wide array of challenges for us to face financially, socially, and emotionally. However, I want to encourage everyone that we can get through this by fixing our eyes on G-d.

It feels like there is so much pain, disappointment, and hardship in the world. If we think about this for too long, it can be overwhelming to keep pressing into G-d and to stay positive. However, sometimes what we need to do can be very simple. One time I was asked by a friend to sit for as a subject for their art group. Trust me, nothing fancy, but I’d be lying if I said my teenage self was not totally thrilled and flattered at the offer. Now, as you may have guessed to be a subject of a picture, you have to sit still…. very, very still. More than this, once the artists agree on the best angle and position, that’s it, even after the break, you have to resume this position. For all intents and purposes, you become a statue. This is a challenge, and when they asked me to stay in that carefully agreed upon pose, of course, I was a little nervous. As someone who loves art and appreciates the work it takes make to a good piece of art, I did not want to be the one to mess with their masterpieces. However, they obviously had ordinary people sit for this type of thing before (I mean, do you know anyone who sits for sketches or paintings for a living… me either), and I was told to pick a spot on the wall. Simple, they told me to stay in my position and look at that spot. A few hours later, I was done, and they all had their pictures.
Staying positive is as simple as picking a spot on the wall; however, instead of choosing a spot, we just have to lock eyes with G-d. I know we cannot physically see G-d, and I know for some people, this whole idea may sound weird. I also know that fixing my eyes on G-d has been the only thing that has helped me weather many a storm. Whether you have known Him for a long time or never really thought about Him before, when you fix your gaze on Him, G-d gives you the strength to continue and the encouragement you need. More than this, fixing our eyes on G-d shifts our perspective. It reminds us of what is really important and that the hard things are bearable because we have Him to comfort and carry us. Looking to G-d, we find that we have everything we need in Him so we can know that everything is going to be okay despite our current circumstances. As we look to Him all the bad things, the hard things, and frankly, the things that just plain suck, melt away. I encourage you, just as I encourage myself when you feel overwhelmed by all that you face instead of fixing your eyes on what’s in front of your, shift your gaze to heaven and know that G-d works everything for the good of those who love Him. I sincerely hope this post encouraged you if it did please like and share. Well, that’s it till next time, stay safe and stay focused on Him.
Sending you all my love,
A Sore Thumb
